If you are out on the road a bit and you are looking for a laptop that can withstand the pressure and take a bit of bashing around then the new Durabook D15RP might be just the thing.
This rugged laptop is solid on the outside and yet refined on the inside, it can handle complex tasks yet it isn’t over priced. Well, that is if you can afford to spend the best part of $2,000 on a laptop, which is a fair price compared to other laptops in the same class as this one.
It has to be said though, the Durabook D15RP doesn’t stand out particularly well in the looks department, it comes in a simple grey or black with rubber trim, but there are other features that kind of make up for that.

It has been designed to be spill resistant and has a magnesium alloy top and bottom case to protect components and anti-shock mounting to protect the LCD and hard drive. It’s basically a tank.
This laptop has a 15.4” DuraBrite LCD screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 so nothing special there. The keyboard is large enough for ease of use and perfect for a heavy work load and it is black so won’t show up grubby marks in a hurry. Ok so it weighs a bit at 6.5 pounds but it is a heavy duty laptop.
It comes with Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology, Windows Vista operating system, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 900 and mini PCI Wireless LAN 802.11 a/b/g
Other features include 3 USB ports, an IEEE 1394 port, Type 11 Express Card Slot and an RS232 serial port. Encrypted hard rives are also available as is a Smart Card Reader and 3G Card support.
You also get a standard 2 year warranty with an option to upgrade that for quick three day repair returns.
