Introducing Plastic Logic’s “QUE”, the proReader that means business

PlasticLogicElectronicReading ...

Plastic Logic have just announced that they plan to showcase the first proReader designed especially for business professionals at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on January 7th 2010.

“QUE” will be more than just a standard ebook reader as it will also be able to support business documents including PDF files, PowerPoint presentations and other business documents which will make it highly attractive to business users instead of more casual users.

Now although this is exciting, we cannot forget that the Kindle DX has recently been updated and now sports a larger viewing screen and there are other ebook readers on the horizon too.

So could all this possibly steal some of the limelight away from QUE?

“We’re not worried about that at all and I think the main reason is that our reader is so different,” Plastic Logic CEO Richard Archuleta said in an interview recently.
“We haven’t seen anybody even come close to what we’re doing with our product.”
“The QUE brand stands for a premium reading experience,” says Archuleta.
“QUE™ was made for how busy professionals work. Thousands of documents and all of your favorite publications now at your fingertips” it says on the QUE reader website.
“Light, sleek and with the largest touchscreen available, the QUE proReader has a user interface as intuitive as paper and ink. More than an eReader, QUE means business” continues the marketing blurb.

QUE is about the size of an 8.5 x 11 inch pad of paper and features PlasticLogic’s shatterproof plastic display along with E Ink Vizplex technology so what you get is a magnificent touch screen which also happens to be larger than the screen on the Kindle DX.

The QUE is also ultra thin and ultra portable measuring only 1/3 of an inch and weighing less than many standard books.

It is Wi-Fi enabled with a connection to AT & T’s Wireless Network and has a battery life of days and not hours.

Yes, it’s looking good for QUE as it’s definitely filling a gap in the market by providing a reader for busy professionals, a reader that can handle business documents and that comes with tools for managing the content.
We don’t know anything about pricing or availability but apparently all will be revealed when QUE makes its debut at the CES in the New Year.
