I don't think that a .xxx domain would be an endorsement of pornography. Is there anyone out there who doesn't realize that porn is freely available on the internet to anyone with half a desire to find it? We're forcibly reminded of that every few days by another "Are your children safe?" kind of story on the news.

I'm undecided on the idea of it being a hassle to regulate, though. I mean, wouldn't they just apply the usual 'net laws (i.e., no child porn) to the domain and allow anyone who wanted a .xxx to have one? Who would sign up for a .xxx without being a pornographer, aside from a few random jackasses who would do it for the novelty of the thing.

Oh well, they're ICANN and I'm not, I'm sure they have a better grasp of the relevant points of the debate.
