HTC have just unveiled their third Android SmartPhone called Hero and this one has Sense. Well to be more specific it has a new interface called Sense.
Sense was apparently designed around three basic principles of Make it Mine, Stay Close, and Discover the Unexpected. It sounds interesting doesn’t it, but what does it actually mean?
Well ‘Make it mine’ is all about personalising the phone in such a way that suits the user with “glance view widgets” which can also be personalised, to keep your favourites and your most important information in view and offers many ways of viewing the content.

The principle ‘Stay close’ allows the user to easily see detailed information relating to their regular and close contacts, including their emails, call and message history, Flickr albums and Facebook status updates. It literally is all about keeping those close to you….err…close.
Finally, ‘Discover the unexpected’ is about some of the cool and cute unexpected features the phone has to enhance the users experience of the phone and make it work “in a more simple and natural way”. For example, you can simply turn it over to silence a ring tone and if you access the weather application and its raining, you might just see little raindrops appearing on your screen that are then wiped away by a virtual windscreen wiper. Cool!
As far as looks go you won’t be disappointed, the phone resembles the HTC Magic but better.
The specs are pretty good too. It runs on a 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM7200A processor, it has a 3.2 inch HVGA touch sensitive display, virtual keyboard, a 3.5 mm headset jack, GPS, digital compass, gravity sensor, 5 megapixel camera, MicroSD slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G capabilities. It also comes with pre-installed Flash and supports Microsoft Exchange.
Will it compete with the likes of the recently released iPhone 3GS and the Palm Pre? Who knows!
According to Jason MacKenzie, HTC America Vice President, the Hero offers “a mobile experience that basically doesn’t feel like you have to think, and is second nature”.
Sounds like a Hero to me. If you fancy a Hero for yourself then it will be available in Europe next month and in other areas later in the year but so far we have no details on what it’s likely to cost you.
