HP DV2 A New Class Of Notebook

Hewlett Packard has launched the HP DV2 Notebook which brings us more for less as it is one of a new class of notebooks we are starting to see which have larger screens but don’t cost the earth to buy.

Netbooks are ultraportable devices designed for easy access to the Net and emails when out and about so when they first appeared they had small screens, tiny keyboards and low processing power, they were cheap and we loved them.
Sales of Netbooks soared and computer manufacturers set about bringing us a never ending stream of Netbooks in order to satisfy the demand and over time these Netbooks have changed considerably.

Nowadays we’re seeing Notebooks that lie somewhere between a Netbook and a Laptop. They are ultra thin and light so easy to carry around but have larger screens and even full size keyboards, and by using cheaper chips these larger Netbooks look like entry level laptops but are much more affordable, like the HP DV2 for example.

Let’s take a closer look at the specs and features of the HP DV2.

What we have here is a 12.1 inch display which is larger than a standard Netbook but smaller than a full blown laptop, it’s only 24 millimetres thick and is pretty light too at 1.8 kg. It also runs with Windows Vista whereas most Netbooks run with Windows XP or Linux, then again, this isn’t exactly a Netbook.

The HP DV2 Notebook has an AMD Athlon Neo 1.6GHz.processor, which is not as powerful or as expensive as Intel’s Core 2 Duo, but this is compensated for by the graphics technology.

The HP DV2 has been made with entertainment in mind so it’s capable of Blu-ray HD DVD, there’s an HDMI port and with Hewlett Packard’s MediaSmart software you can watch and record TV programmes and enjoy many other features to enhance your entertainment experience. For graphics there’s ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3410 card with 512 MB memory.

Of course there’s built in Wi-Fi so you can connect easily no matter where you are and there’s Bluetooth.

You also get 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 VGA port, Ethernet, and it comes with a 90 W AC Power Adaptor.

If you want an ultra light and portable notebook packed with entertainment features and that looks stylish and classy too then the HP DV2 might be just the ticket and it’s yours for just £599.
