Paula, if you have your connection made from your computer to your tv you might need to play with the display settings in your control panel. Once the connection is made your computer might still try to display the information on the screen it has, instead of the screen you want it to. Depending on the OS your own depends on the exact action. You need to be on screen two. Hope this helps.

I plugged my S-video from the laptop to the S-video in the back of the TV. I fiddled with the laptop by changing the resolution, but the TV remains black without even a flicker. I flipped through all of the video connections, but nothing.
It appears that the S-video in the back of the TV may only be out. My TV and laptop are both older. The TV has no USB ports.
TV is a SONY and the laptop is a Toshiba.
Any suggestions?

Hi there,

I'm wondering can anyone help - I have seen similar queries to mine above but can't see any answers. I have a new netbook which only has a vga port and an older tv which has svideo and rca. I bought a cable which has rca at one end (green blue and red pins) and vga at the other end but I cannot get it to work. Do I need some sort of converter or do I need a different cable?

Thanks,
Fiona
