Hacking The Body Week #5

Hello Geek With Laptop readers, it’s time for my weekly update on my weight loss Hacking The Body progress.

As with the previous weeks, I’ve stuck to drinking a lot of water and only having one diet soda per day.

I’m tempted to try again giving up soda completely again to see if my body plays nice this time.

My pants and shirts are becoming loose around my waist line… yay more visual signs of weight loss progress.

Now for the specific details of my morning weigh in… I weighed in this morning at 226.4 which is a 1.2 pound weight loss from last week.

So far in 5 weeks I’ve lost a total of 5.6 pounds. Gold star for me. w00t.

Feel free to keep track of my progress on my Hacking The Body Project page.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support and words of encouragement.

Congrats on your progress Sean! Everything I’ve read says that 1-2 pounds per week is a healthy weight loss, so it looks like you are right on track.

Hey Brandon, thanks for your continued support.

I’m pleased with 1-2 pounds per week because like you said, it’s a healthy weight loss and not a crash course diet like they show on TV all the time.

Exactly – you want to follow a plan that will allow for healthy, long term weight loss.

Before we got married, me and my wife went on the Atkins diet together. In about 6 months I lost over 50 pounds, but as soon as we went off the diet, the weight came right back.

Brandon: that is why a diet has to be consistant. After a while, Sean’s weight loss will taper off as his input and output of stuff evens out. Then, the weight he lost will stay off as long as his diet stays good.

Gnome, that’s exactly what I meant. It’s much better to not think of it as a diet, but as a change in lifestyle. It’s much easier to stick with a healthy lifestyle than it is to stick with a diet.

I do not generally comment to a blog but I liked your post therefore I felt forced to do so. Straying away from the topic slightly, what are your views concerning walking? Which is these days being put forward as the best exercise to burn fat.
