Hacking The Body Week #2

Last week I started a new project called Hacking The Body where I’d start to document my progress in weight loss and overall “hacking” my body into better shape and this morning was my day to weigh in… dun dun DUN!

I weighed in this morning at 229.8 which is a 2.2 pound weight loss. Yay!

This past week has been really trying on me. Giving up soda cold turkey is really tough.

I went 3 days without a single soda but the headaches were just pounding. Yay for no caffeine in my system.

I decided that I’d allow myself only one soda per day, that’s if I felt the urge or a headache was coming on.

I’ve been able to stick to that without any issues and I’m not having a soda every day either which is progress as well.

I’ve been drinking a ton of water and I’ve also cut back on my food intake… not much but a little. Hey, it’s only week #2. I’ll be doing better as time goes on.

Feel free to keep track of my progress on my Hacking The Body Project page.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support and words of encouragement.

Good for you Sean. A few months ago, I decided to cut out soda and start eating better, and I’m down 13 pounds so far (started at 271).

I found a great website called Traineo, an online community for people who want to be healthy.

You can log calorie intake, weight, exercise, and create graphs to to track your progress. You can create and join groups of other like-minded people (there are quite a few geek-related groups). It’s kind of like MySpace for fitness.

Hi Brandon. Thank you for your continued support.

Indeed, soda seems to be a problem for many people and cutting it out or cutting way back seems to help with dropping weight.

Congrats on your continued weight loss as well.

Congrats on your weight loss Sean!

I’m trying to go in the opposite direction, but for me it’s just as much of a struggle.

Drinking a ton of water feels good, doesn’t it? I started drinking huge amounts as soon as I got in to college, and actually also cut out soda. You just plain feel healthier.

    Thanks Matt.

Bulking up is easier for me actually.

Eat a lot of bulk food, like pasta, bread, etc but be sure to work out more too so it becomes muscle and not fat.

I do feel a lot better drinking more water.
