Google Earth promised us that we would have views of the whole planet from our laptop and now it may have cast some light into the murky mysterious waters of Loch Ness in the Highlands of Scotland.

Security guard Jason Cooke claims that he found the legendary Loch Ness monster on satellite images provided by Google Earth and says the 65 foot oblong shape followed by thin strands is the elusive but famous Nessie, a monster sea creature which is believed by many to inhabit the waters of Loch Ness.

Jason told the Sun newspaper “I couldn’t believe it. It’s just like the descriptions of Nessie”.

For those who don’t know what Nessie is supposed to look like, researchers studying the Loch Ness monster phenomenon reckon that the creature in the loch, if it exists of course, is most likely to be a Plesiosaur.

A Plesiosaur is a marine reptile with a small head and a long neck with four paddle shaped limbs which is believed to be extinct but which once lived at the start of the Jurassic period.

A series of vertebrae has been uncovered on the banks of Loch Ness in the past and some claim that this is ‘proof’ that a Plesiosaur was living in the loch.

One of the researchers on the Loch Ness project, Adrian Shine, commented on the latest images on Google Earth saying they were “really intriguing” and that they deserved further study.

Nessie has been getting a right name for herself across the world every since debate about her possible existence was thrust into the limelight back in 1933.

Since then there have been numerous so called sightings and photographs, some of them have proved fake and the jury is still out on others.

Regardless, many locals wholeheartedly believe she exists; many others further afield want to believe it and enthusiasts across the globe rush to Loch Ness in their droves year after year in the hope of catching a glimpse.

Scientists however still claim that Nessie’s existence is nothing more than a modern day myth.

If you want to see for yourself grab your laptop and check out the following co-ordinates on Google Earth: Latitude 57°12′52.13″N, Longitude 4°34′14.16″W.

It would be interesting to hear what you think.
