Finally after much speculation and rumour we’ve got the full details on Google’s Android based SmartPhone dubbed ‘Nexus One’ so what’s the deal?
Well first of all the phone looks pretty cool. It stands at 119 mm high, it is 59.8mm wide and is only 11.5mm thin and weighs in at only 130 grams and that’s complete with the battery.
Incidentally, you should apparently get up to 10 hours talk time battery life on 2G and up to 7 hours talk time on 3G. Standby time is up to 290 hours on 2G and up to 250 hours on 3G.
If you are using the Internet then you can expect up to 5 hours on 3G and up to 6.5 on Wi-Fi. You’ll get up to 7 hours video playback and up to 20 hours audio playback, altogether not bad at all.
So how about the processor and OS? The Nexus One processor is a Qualcomm QSD 8250 1 GHz and the operating system is Android Mobile Technology Platform 2.1 (Éclair).
The phone features a 3.7 inch (diagonal) widescreen WVGA AMOLED touchscreen with 800 x 480 pixels.
There’s a 5 megapixel camera and flash for taking all those pics and vids when you’re out and about.
For connectivity you have Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, UMTS Band 1/4/8 (2100/AWS/900), HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 2Mbps, GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), and A2DP Stereo Bluetooth.
We cannot forget location based services, I mean this is Google we’re talking about, so we have assisted global positioning system (AGPS) receiver, Cell Tower and Wi-Fi positioning, Digital Compass and an Accelerometer.
So now all we have to do is mention where we can buy it and how much it will cost. You can buy the phone right away without service and insert your own sim card in the US only at the moment and it will cost you $529.
With that you get a Nexus One phone case, a wall charger and a USB cable and free shipping – only in the US of course.
If you sign up on a plan with T Mobile, then Google’s Nexus One will only cost you $179 and pretty soon it will be available on Verizon Wireless in the US too.
As for Europe, well Vodafone will be selling it sometime in the spring 2010 although we don’t know the exact date or price.
So will Apple be worried that the Nexus One is a series competitor for the iPhone? What do you think?
