Geek With Laptop Under New Management
Hi, you are probably wondering where Sean is. Actually Sean is a very busy guy and I think he has gone on to pastures new.
So who the hell am I? My name is Lyndon Antcliff and I am a geek. Or is it a nerd, I can never remember, I think geeks are cool and nerds are those you try to shuffle away from at parties. If you are a nerd, no offense, but this site is for geeks.
OK, so what the hell do I do? Well I am a writer who loves to blog, loves to mess around with Wordpress and gadgets and stuff. I pay the bills by telling people how to blog and attract people to their websites. Yep, you can make enough money to live out of it. Not enough to fulfill my gadget addiction, but hey, this is not Engadget.com It’s just a humble blog.
So what am I going to do with the site. Well, pretty much keep it on the same course it has been going, gathering interesting bits and bobs around the Internet Tubes and writing about them here. Hopefully to edify, inspire, titilate and generally fill your brain with interesting stuff.
Sean has said he will keep the SRG Clean Archives up to date for us. And we may be planning a few more Wordpress tools. I love Wordpress and pretty much bang on about it whenever I can.
What’s with the weird spelling. I am a Brit, so we spell things like “colour” and “favourite” a little different, but apart from that, there’s not much difference. I hear it’s dead turkey in the US, have a good one.

Also, I am a big fan of social media sites like Facebook at Digg, so I will be blogging about those sites also. I may be putting up a bit of advertising here and there, hey a mans gotta eat. Nothing too intrusive though.
I have lots of ideas for this site and you should see quite a bit happening. I will try to blog a few times a week about anything I come across, if there is anything you would like me to cover, simply drop a comment.

Keep in mind that a geek is also used to describe one who bites the heads off of chickens. They usually frequent carnivals and pretty much anything that includes a “freak show”. However, the nerd is pretty much just an intelligent person, usually accompanied by retarded social skills. Oh, and the candy… but that’s not so bad.
Wish Sean the best. Look forward to seeing how things go from here.
Nathaniel, I am indeed aware of the other meanings of Geek. Maybe we could have a post regarding such polysemic words and terms. I am a bit of a word nut and love getting into the meaning of words.
Of course the meaning I am using is the modern one. But the old one doesn’t seem too far off. Social tribes tend to create their own words to solidify their identity and keep strangers out. Geek is just one of those words.
BTW, I am into shaking things up a bit and not fraid of a bit of controversy, so don’t worry if things heat up a little round these parts, it’s all good.
Neat. I always found it interesting how groups take words that seem to be originally intended as an insult and own them with a sense of pride. I’ll cite Geek/Nerd and stay far away from the racial slurs. Myself, I’ll claim geek or nerd… although I’ll learn more towards nerd since many of the people I know still know the original definition of geek… and I’m really not all that cool (assuming that by your definition a geek is a cool nerd).
