However, they need a machine that is capable of surviving in all sorts of weather, as well as being able to take the odd knock and drop now and then too!
Well according to Gammatech the R13C has passed the all of the military grade tests for drop, shock, spill, dust resistance, water and dust protection, so that means it is tough.
So, let’s take a look at what this tough little guy has to offer the user in this demanding sector; First up there is a 13.3 inch WXGA TFT display with sunlight readable option and a built-in resistive touch screen for complete operation while on the move.
It is powered by the Intel Core Duo ULV U7500 Processor, which is nothing too elaborate, it is capable of storing up to 4 GB of DDR2 industrial grade RAM and it comes with a shock mounted 2.5 inch SATA hard disk drive (HDD) with standard heater too.
When it comes to networking GammaTech have gone for four simultaneous radios modems, the WLAN 802.11 a/g/n, Bluetooth, optional WAN/GPRS, and a fully integrated GPS receiver.
The user can expect to achieve long battery power to maximize mobility from the nine cell Li-ion battery and for extreme situations; it will operate at temperatures ranging from -4 to 122°F and therefore allows the user to gain functionality in all kinds of weather conditions.
To complete the specs for this superior machine it comes with a strong magnesium alloy case that is supposed to protect all of the vital internal components from damage.
The prices for this laptop are yet to be announced, but it is not going to be cheap!
