Mac users now have access for the first time to the world’s first miniature hardware internet security devices thanks to Yoggie Security Systems(TM). The new Gatekeeper PicoTM for Mac and Gatekeeper Card Pro(TM) for Mac, offers users with a dozen internet security applications packaged on dedicated hardware - giving you security and protection wherever you connect.
This will come as a relief to many people, with an estimated 10 Million+ Apple Macs sold by end of 2008. Because Mac users tend to be more mobile, they’re more at risk as a rule.
Essentially a computer within a computer, the new device is the Gatekeeper; a USB key-size Linux-based security mini-computer, with all 12 security applications built in, ready to boot up automatically with the Mac for immediate protection. It works by using a special low-level driver to instantly hijack all network connections, so that they’re routed through the device before accessing the host machine itself, so that any attacks hit the Gatekeeper Pico first. Kind of like an RCD device for when you run the lawnmower over the power cable, so the box gets zapped and you don’t.
The 2 versions available are the Gatekeeper Pico for Mac and the Gatekeeper Card Pro for Mac. The Gatekeeper Card Pro slots directly into the MacBook’s ExpressCard slot and is also a full-blown mini-computer with memory, processor and OS. This is the first time ever that an entire computer has been designed to install inside another computer for security protection.
The award winning Gatekeeper(TM) technology runs on Windows and also now on all devices running Mac OS X v10.5.4 (Leopard) and above.
