The Facebook for Android app has been updated. The new update comes with features as well as a new shortcut. This update can now be downloaded free of cost from the Google Play Store. Facebook is the most widely used social network in the world. The network has over 800 million global users and this number continues to grow by leaps and bounds every single day. Majority of it’s users use mobile devices to access their accounts and keep up with activity, that’s why Facebook is always making updates and changes to it’s mobile apps so as to provide users with a great mobile experience.
Facebook released this update yesterday and already it has been downloaded by millions of people. Latest reviews on the Google Play Store indicate that users welcome the changes in this update. Apart from the usual slew of performance improvements, enhancements and bug fixes this update comes with Camera sharing opting in the Home Screen and a new direct shortcut to Facebook Messenger. Many people are of the view that the emphasis on Camera sharing is due to the recent acquisition of Instagram by Facebook. The theory doesn’t seem that far-fetched, we can expect Facebook to take a few pages out of Instagram’s books for it’s photo related services.
Another notable change in this update is Facebook Messenger being baked in with a direct shortcut right on the Home Screen. Facebook also has a separate Messenger app, however it is obvious after this update that the social network plans on doing away with the separate Messenger app altogether. Facebook Messenger works perfectly in this new Android app update and leaves no reason whatsoever for users to download the standalone Messenger app. Apart from these changes, slight improvements have been made to the group chatting feature. Moreover, Facebook claims to have fixed issues with notifications as well. Notifications are now said to be faster, and user reviews on Google Play Store seem to confirm that claim. So basically if you are a Facebook user and you have an Android device, I don’t really see why you shouldn’t update the official Facebook app on your device. The new update is better, faster and hopefully less buggy. The update is now live on the Google Play Store and can be downloaded absolutely free of cost on your Android smartphone.
