Evolution of Dance Song List

Back on October 9, 2006 I posted about Inspirational Comedian Judson Laipply and his interpretation of the “Evolution of Dance” video. I even included the actual video to watch and links to his site and the songs used in the video.

Well this morning I received a comment on my original post by a user named Courtney saying:

does anyone know what the songs are in this video??? i really need to know them…

So I went to the post remembering that I posted a link to the songs and guess what? The link no longer works.

Hmmm… I have six of those songs, if you count remixes. I think the surprising thing is which ones I don’t have, really…

Hi Luke. So what six songs do you actually have?

I’m going to take a guess and say that you for sure have “Keep On” by the Brady Bunch and “Break Dance (Electric Boogie)” by the Sugarhill Gang.

    Did I win? :)

Nope, not even close. I have Mr. Roboto, The Chicken Dance, Baby Got Back, Tubthumping, What Is Love, and Cotton Eye Joe, and I’ve since found a copy of Love Shack.

I was really surprised when I realized my library doesn’t have the Macarena or Y.M.C.A. I mean, come on…

Luke, I love that you have the chicken dance in your collection.

I now have this visual of you doing the actual dance… hahaha.

Did you ever do it in the dorms?

I don’t remember doing it in the dorms, but I did do it at my brother’s wedding. There were two or three of us who refused to go join in the group dances on the dance floor at the reception, so one time after my aunt had tried yet again to get us to go dance, I started doing it right behind her back every time she turned back to the party.

That is the only time I have ever been able to pull off the “do it while their back is turned” joke…

    Hi Tom.

Last I heard Judson Laipply was working on getting permission from the copyright holders for all the songs used in his custom mix.

Most of the songs are available at your local music store or on iTunes, so with a little work, you could recreate the mix yourself.

    Hi maddie.

When you say that you need the two minute version, do you want the songs compiled together or the video of Judson Laipply doing the dance?

Hi, this is FAB! My fiance and I want to use this as our ’surprise’ first dance. Is there anyone who can help tell me how I go about getting the songs, creating it or even better if there is one somewhere for me to have? Thanks :)
