Eurocom offers world’s first 2.5 terabyte notebook Eurocom offers world’s first 2.5 terabyte notebookEurocom have just announced that it has introduced a new mobile workstation which is effectively the world’s first notebook offering a massive 2.5 terabytes of storage space. Wow!

The Eurocom D900F Phantom i7 features an Intel Core i7 or Xeon processor, which comes with either a 17” or 18.4” display screen, make no mistake; this is one mighty tera-beast.

“It’s a server or workstation-calibre computer complete with built-in Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) in a 12 pounds notebook form factor,” said Mark Bialic, president of Eurocom.

“This is one extremely fast notebook that offers server or workstation calibre capabilities. It is designed to replace traditional desktop based workstations. It offers incredible high ROI by allowing companies to be more productive and offer new ‘on the go’ CAD/CAM services while greatly reducing overall IT management costs.”

Right this monster isn’t your every day laptop is it; it’s most likely going to appeal to high end professionals looking for extra large storage and portable server capabilities, not just for Joe Public.

The Eurocom D900F Phantom i7 mobile workstation also comes with three physical SATA hard drives as well as a choice of RAID 0, RAID 1 or RAID 5 for extra fast transfer rates, data redundancy or automatic back ups.

It supports up to 24GB DDR3 1600 high memory. For graphics you can choose from high performance NVIDIA GTX 280M, AMD ATI HD5870 or OpenGL NVIDIA Quadro FX2800. It will of course support most of the 64 bit operating systems available on the market.

Other features include a BluRay or DVD burner, 4 or 5 USB 2.0 ports, Serial and Parallel ports, and DVI ports for external monitors, S-Video, Media card readers, FireWire Ports, and built in microphone and stereo speakers. For connectivity you’ve got WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth.

I mean you won’t want to be carrying this beast around with you to your local café, it isn’t built for that. For a start you’re only going to get a battery life of minutes instead of hours, well ok around 1 hour, and it weighs in at just less than 12 pounds so a bit on the hefty side.

Still just think, you could store thousands of full length movies, hundreds of thousands of songs as well as millions of photos.

The D900F Phantom i7 doesn’t come cheap though, but then again you knew that didn’t you, but if you’ve got just over 4000 spare dollars to throw at it, it’s yours.
