I still get 2 hours from my E620 and I've had it for almost 1.5 years. I'm very happy with it and yes, you can install Windows 7 but I prefer to just use Windows XP Pro. The 2GB of RAM and the single-core CPU work better with XP. Also, the weak ATi Radeon X1200 GPU works better with XP as well. Sure, it can smoothly run Windows 7 Aero but XP is better for this machine. It is a relatively weak machine so having XP on it makes it much faster than Windows 7. I made sure I removed Vista Home Basic from it as soon as I got it. If you have a Windows XP disc, that is definitely the way to go with this machine. You must have treated that battery very badly. Emachines customer service sucks. Need to deal more than two weeks and finally they will send the replacement.Hopefully! laptop is ok you can instal windows 7.
