Download iOS 6 GM For iPhone, iPad And iPod Touch Today

Apple made a number of announcements yesterday at the iPhone 5 release event. Apart from the new products that were announced, some software related announcements were made as well which were very anxiously being awaited. Apple has seeded iOS 6 Gold Master build for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Registered Apple developers can now download iOS 6GM for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch from the Developers Portal.

Undoubtedly the highlight of yesterday’s event was the new iPhone 5. Apple unveiled its new smartphone in front of various media outlets at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco California. The new iPhone looks more evolutionary than revolutionary. The design is quite similar to that of iPhone 4S or even the iPhone 4. Major changes include a larger 4 inch Retina Display as well as the thinness and lightness of iPhone 5.

Apple unveiled iOS 6 at Worldwide Developers Conference 2012 earlier this year. Up till now this new iOS platform update has been in beta state. Beta firmware is only made available to registered developers so that they can test out their apps as well as report on any bugs, back to Apple. The company has now seeded iOS GM build which means that public release of iOS 6 is not that far off any more.

iOS 6 is the latest update of Apple’s mobile platform. It builds up superbly on the success of iOS 5, which was a mammoth update with over 200 new features. iOS 6 comes with a number of new features such as Safari iCloud Tabs which let you continue your browsing session over any iOS or Mac device as long as those devices are hooked up to one Apple ID. A Do Not Disturb mode has also been added apart from the various tweaks that have been made in Siri.

This latest iOS update also features Apple’s own Maps application which replaces the age old Google Maps app. iOS 6 also removes native YouTube app which has now been replaced by a standalone app developed by Google itself. The new Passbook apps takes care of all your electronic coupons and tickets. These are just some of the salient features of iOS 6.

As mentioned before only registered developers can download iOS 6 GM for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This build is not available over-the-air even if you have a previous iOS 6 beta installed on your respective iOS device, developers will have to manually download iOS 6 GM IPSW from the Developers Portal.
