The Japanese based computer maker Dospara has been at it again, but this time the new release is aimed at the gaming sector! this new laptop is part of the Note range of laptops and Dospara have called it the Rigel 2442VH, which is a bit better than giving it just a number, plus the fact, Rigel is a Star and a character in Farscape. Being designed with gamers in mind, this laptop comes with a surprisingly small fourteen inch screen, but has the Intel Core i7 processor, chipset and graphics, as well as being supported by the Nvidia Geforce GT graphics card. There is a lot of features available in this small and compact machine.
So we know that this is a gaming laptop, but what does it actually offer the buyer? Let’s take a closer look; it comes with a compact fourteen inch screen with a non-glossy LCD display that offers a 1600 x 900 of pixel resolutions. This is going to be running on the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system and powered by the Intel Core i7-3517U with 1.90 GHz to 3.00 GHz with turbo boost and offers an L3 4MB cache dual core with Ultra-low voltage version. There is support from the Mobile Intel HM77 Express chipset motherboard and the all important graphics will be coming from NVIDIA GeForce GT640M 2GB and the Intel HD Graphics with switching provided by the NVIDIA Optimus technology.
There is 8 GB of PC3-12800 DDR3 SO-DIMM memory but can be expanded up to 32 GB, there is a 500 GB hard disk drive (HDD) and a 128 GB solid state drive (SSD). Communications are coming from the 10 BASE-T, 100 BASE-TX, 1000 BASE-T wired LAN, Bluetooth 4.0 and the IEEE 802.11 b / g / n Wireless LAN. Other features include the built in HD web camera, multi card reader, two super fast connecting USB 3.0 ports, two standard style USB 2.0 ports and the D-Sub 15 & HDMI display ports.
As for the size, this laptop measures up at 339 mm (W) x 233 mm (D) x 21 mm (H) and weighs in at 1.59 kilos with the Lithium-ion battery pack installed. Dospara have priced the Note Rigel 2442VH to start from around $1,100, but as ever there are options available and that means the final price could be much more.
