Details of MSI Netbooks with new chip leaked

MSI Netbooks

We’ve all been bombarded with a steady stream of new Netbooks ever since the first Netbook arrived just over two years ago and if you’re fed up of hearing about them then you had better brace yourself as it’s about to start all over again.

Another massive array of netbooks is sure to be coming on the scene now that Intel has launched its new Intel Atom N450 processor for Netbooks and leading the way is MSI.

Details of the first Netbooks from MSI to sport the new chip have already been leaked on to the Internet so first let’s welcome in the new MSI Wind U130 and the U135.

MSI were planning to parade their Pine Trail platform Netbooks at the up coming 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas but we can sneak an early preview of both the MSI Wind U130 and the MSI Wind U135.

The upgraded MSI Wind U130 and U135 will feature the new chip at 1.66 GHz with integrated GMA 3150 graphics.

They will have the same 10.1 inch LED backlit display as before with a resolution of 1024 x 600, but will feature a revamped keyboard, larger touchpad and improved battery life.

According to MSI the battery life in both the U130 and the U135 has been improved by 15 percent which is good news for anyone who needs to be away from a wall socket for any length of time. Apparently the new N450 processor chip draws only 5.5 W of power.

You are also getting a 250 GB Hard Drive with the MSI Wind U135 Netbook (160 GB with the MSI Wind U130), 4 in 1 Memory Card reader, 1 GB DDR2 RAM, on board 1.3 Megapixel webcam, three USB Ports, Wi-Fi b/g/n and they will run with Windows 7 Starter Edition.

On the connectivity front, both the U130 and the U135 will have support for WiMAX, and will also both carry the option of 3.5 G Mobile Broadband

As for colours, you have a choice of Snow White or Brilliant Black with the MSI Wind U130 whereas the U135 is available in Sterling Silver, Brilliant Black, Midnight Blue and Cherry Red.

Prices are expected to be around the £230 or $268 mark for the U130 and £280 or $445 for the U135 and both will be available in January, probably shortly after the Consumer Electronics Show.

There is an obvious mistake, “Prices are expected to be around the £230 or ->$368 mark for the U130 and £280 or $445 for the U135″ instead of “Prices are expected to be around the £230 or $268 mark for the U130 and £280 or $445 for the U135″
