Dell Upgrades Their Vostro Line Of Netbooks

Dell, the second largest computer manufacturer in the world, has just announced that it has three new versions of its Vostro range of Netbooks available.

These Netbooks are designed to meet the needs and requirements of small to medium sized enterprises or SMEs who can customise and pick and choose from a range of features to get a Netbook most suited to them.

The three models are as follows:

Vostro 1320 (13.3” screen with a weight of 4.1 pounds)
Vostro 1520 (15.4” screen with a weight of 5.38 pounds)
Vostro 1720 (17” screen with a weight of 6.8 pounds. Also comes with a full-sized keyboard including an adjacent 10 key numeric keypad)

The new versions have Intel Core 2 Duo or Celeron processors and all run with Windows Vista operating system but many people prefer to use Windows XP and so there is an option to downgrade to this version of windows if so desired.

Other features or options to choose from include NVIDIA GeForce graphics, fingerprint reader for multi-factor authentication for added security, hard drive encryption and solid state drives, optical drive, mobile broadband, fast wireless connections and other connectivity options. Each Netbook comes with a one year basic limited warranty plus one year mail in service.

The first of the Vostro range of computers was launched 2 years ago and initially they didn’t make a big impression but they came through and have managed to prove themselves over time.

In an attempt to please its customers and no doubt this will, Dell have opted to load only the essential software onto the new Netbooks instead of the usual bunch of trial software that comes preloaded with many computers, which as anyone will agree, can be a real nuisance.

Time is money as they say so having too much irrelevant software loaded only slows the thing down and takes up valuable space, not what you want on a business computer.

Yes, we would say that Dell has made a good move with this one; the new revamped Vostro Netbooks are definitely worth checking out.

The models are already available in the US at a starting price of around $620 but should start to make an appearance in Europe in the next week or so. Unfortunately at the moment we don’t know what they are likely to cost in the UK.
