Dell launches new Precision M4700 laptop
Dell have not been as prolific recently as they have been in the past, it seemed at one time they bringing out new laptops on a weekly basis, but now the new launches have slowed to a pace that is more suitable to busy sector of the industry the business user! The new Precision M4700 laptop replaces the Precision M4600 laptop that was launched last year, in fact this new model has the same look and feel as the older version except in the later version Dell have opted for an aluminium and magnesium alloy for the chassis.
It is great to see a new Dell on the market so let us take a look at what is under the hood of the entry level Precision M4700 laptop! First of all, there is the 15.6 inch screen with HD, anti-glare, LED-backlit, a 1366 x 768 of pixel resolutions and there is the integrated, light sensitive HD video web camera with Dell Webcam Central software. It will be running on Genuine Windows 7 Professional No Media operating system, powered by the Intel Core i5 (3360M, 3320M) processor supporting the Mobile Intel QM77 Express Chipset and with graphics coming from the AMD FirePro M4000 Mobility Pro with 1 GB of GDDR5 dedicated memory.
There is up to 16 GB of DDR3 SDRAM at 1866 Mhz 4 DIMMS and up to 512 GB of X_SATA3SS hard disk drive (HDD) for storage purposes. With a DVD-ROM; Slot load DVD+/-RW; Blu-ray Disc writer for hard copies is required. There is the Integrated Intel 82579M/V 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet, Dell Wireless 380 Bluetooth 4.0 and the Dell Wireless DW5560 Single-mode HSPA+ Mini-Card with A-GPS for networking. While connectivity is by the Network connector (RJ-45), two fast USB 3.0 ports, three standard USB 2.0 ports one with the USB/eSATA combo, Docking Connector, VGA, DisplayPort and of course there is the HDMI out too. It will measure up at 14.80 inches (W) x 1.29 inches to 1.44 inches (H) x 10.08 inches (W) and weighs in 6.33 pounds with the 6 cell (65 Wh) Lithium Ion battery with ExpressCharge in place.
As ever with Dell there is a Precision M4700 base unit with a starting price of around $1,050, but there is a whole lot of options to choose from too, which will push the final price up much higher.
