Fancy a Netbook? The new Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Netbook is the latest Netbook to make its debut on the Netbook scene and will be available from QVC shopping channel today and in the UK from next week (February 26th).
Netbooks have been creating a storm since they first appeared on the market in 2007 and whether you love them or hate them, it would seem that Netbooks are the latest must have accessory for everyone.
Slender, sleek and ultra cool looking and of course easy to carry around and whip out no matter where you are, they offer quick access to emails and the web and they don’t actually cost a bomb to buy.
Sales are expected to double this year and reach 50 million by 2012 so who can blame the big names in the industry for coming out with a constant stream of new Netbooks to keep us interested.
So is there anything interesting about Dell’s Mini 10? Well it has a good sized 10.1” widescreen for comfortable viewing and an easy to use keyboard at 92% of full size so no problems there at all.
The Mini 10 comes with an Intel Atom processor and either a 120GB or 160GB hard drive with Windows XP operating system. It also has a built in webcam and of course it has the obligatory Internal Wi-Fi and the option of Bluetooth.
Dell also quote on their company blog “Initially, all Mini 10s will come with 1GB fixed RAM (which means it will not be upgradeable)”.
Wait a minute what was that? You can count me out right now on that point alone. Even if it is only initially who on earth wants 1GB RAM that you can’t even upgrade?
Cool sounding range of colours to choose from though, (Alpine White, Obsidian Black, Cherry Red, Promise Pink, Ice Blue and Jade Green), there’s bound to be something to appeal to everyone’s personal taste there, even mine if I were interested.
Nearly forgot, Dell will include free access to 2GB of online storage with each Mini 10 they sell and an option to increase that up to 100GB, but for a fee of course. Why not?
Later in the year there are more optional extras planned which include Internal GPS, 2GB RAM, 250GB Hard Drive, Digital TV Tuner, and Linux OS.
Dell is no stranger to Netbooks although they are a relative newcomer. Dell’s first Netbook, the Mini 9, started shipping 5 months ago in September 2008 and its second, the Mini 12, only two months ago in December and already we have a third.
Ok so now you are bound to be asking how much the Inspiron Mini 10 is going to set you back. Well it won’t break the bank at a mere £299 and that includes VAT and shipping but personally, I’ll be waiting for a better deal.
