I bought a whole bunch of DVD's when I was in China, and now they don't work on my computer (new Macbook Pro), even in VLC. For some of them its the region, and some just don't work. (Even though they worked on different computers) I heard a rumor that the new macs don't play illegal DVD's at all. Is this true?
What can I do without spending the money on a ripping program or on blank DVD's? I'm pretty broke right now and just want to play them.

Does this apply to a dvd that i make at home? I am in North America, and want to make a dvd of pictures to send to a friend in Europe. Will she be able to open it without any problem there like a cd? Or will it do the same thing as a video on dvd?

I've been searching for the 'region all' option in ImgBurn but I have not been able to locate it. Could you say where it is on that program?

How would one go about unlocking the DVD player on a mac?
I've recently moved from the UK to Australia, therefore I have a bunch of different region DVDs from both countries.
VLC player won't work, is there anyway of unlocking the macbook pro's dvd player?

I found this tool that's quite helpful at playing region coded DVDs on your pc.

http://www.obblogatory.com/57

You'll find the tool linked to from there. I think it's called DVD Remote.
