SRG Clean Archives 4.2 Released
Today I’m happy to announce the release of SRG Clean Archives 4.2.
This is just a maintenance release. No new features at this time, however I am working on a few which I’ll detail in an upcoming post.
I’ve tested and confirmed that SRG Clean Archives works with the upcoming WordPress 2.3 release which should be rolling out within the next 24 hours.
For WordPress users of the 2.0.x branch, you’ll want to download the legacy version of SRG Clean Archives (v2.2) as it’s becoming difficult to be completely backwards compatible with the 2.0.x branch of WordPress.
Thank you for your continued support and use of SRG Clean Archives.
PayPal donations are never expected but always appreciated:
What’s Your Caption?
Today is “what’s your caption?” day here at Geek With Laptop.
So how does “what’s your caption?” work some of you might be asking yourself.
It’s actually pretty easy. Take a look at the picture below of a wooden model in a random pose and comment with what you think he’s doing.
I’ll even start off with my thoughts on what he might be doing: Running away from a fire.

Wooden models are so much fun. They can be used for all sorts of things. They can be bent, twisted and molded just like an “old school” Gumby action figure.
There is no right or wrong answer. The idea to to let your creative juices flow.
Depending on what kind of response I get from this post, I might make this a weekly feature and post all sorts of things and have my readers suggest interesting captions.

SRG Clean Archives 4.1 Released
It’s been almost a month since SRG Clean Archives 4.0.4 was released but a lot has been going on behind the scenes with testing, new features and code improvements.
Today I’m happy to announce the release of SRG Clean Archives 4.1.
Per a few user requests, the plugin is now completely localized using language files created with poEdit.
Current available language packs:
- English (default - built into plugin)
- French - Français
- German - Deutsch
If you’d like to help by contributing additional language translations, let me know. This would be a great help.
To use the language packs, just download the one you want, unzip and place the ..mo and .po files into the language folder within the srg_clean_archives plugin folder.
Special thanks goes out to Joern Kretzschmar for the German translation and to Lise for the French translation.
Please note that the language files are not included in the plugin distribution, you will need to download them separately from this post or the plugin project page. Only English is standard with the plugin download at this time.
Lets see, there was also some minor code clean up and enhancements but not any major feature updates except for the localization and language files.
Last, I tested and confirmed that SRG Clean Archives works with latest WordPress 2.2.1 release, so be sure to go up upgrade your WordPress install for the latest version that includes bug fixes and security patches.
Thank you for your continued support and use of SRG Clean Archives.
PayPal donations are never expected but always appreciated:
WordPress Photo Gallery Plugin Released
About a year or so ago, my good friend Rubin J. Kaplan (Joe) wrote a WordPress Photo Album Plugin. It was nice but wasn’t easy for people to use.
However, in recent weeks after he helped me with SRG Clean Archives he got the bug to fix up his plugin.
Basically he broke it apart and completely rewrote it, so now it’s a self contained solution to add a WordPress photo gallery to your site.
WPPA (WP Photo Album) is a simple to use and fully customizable plugin for managing photo albums within a WordPress powered site or blog.
I helped him with Beta testing, bug testing and fine tuning features for the first 1.0 release. I even added a little SEO goodness to the default theme for it.
Speaking of theming, you can customize the default theme to work with your current site’s look and feel. You can see it in action now on my photo gallery page.
Joe plans on doing a lot more with future releases and don’t worry, I am hot on his tail with a list of things that need to be added into the new future releases.
Yeah, I’m good like that. I can drive Joe crazy at times but at the end of the day, we really help each other out when it comes to things WordPress related.
When you get a moment, check out my new photo gallery and if you like what you see, WPPA (WP Photo Album) just might be the solution you’ve been looking for.
Visit the official WPPA (WP Photo Album) project page for more information.
Help spread the word and Digg the story.

Again, I can’t express enough of how much it means to me the large amounts of support and use of the WordPress plugin.
