The (WTF) Apple Mac Store In Seattle
Poking around Flickr this morning, I came across this neon sign for The Mac Store:

Running “The” along the side isn’t bad typography, but the lack of a visual break between the T and H makes it look like “WTF”. Yay geek humor.

What if Microsoft Re-designed the Apple iPod packaging?
This is an example of what Microsoft might do if it were given the chance to redesign the packaging for the Apple iPod:
The Apple iPhone Has Been Unlocked
According to the guys at Engadget, the Apple iPhone has been successfully unlocked.
Here is a look at this amazing breakthrough:
It’s high noon, Apple and AT&T — we really hate to break it to you, but the jig is up. Last night the impossible was made possible: right in front of our very eyes we witnessed a full SIM unlock of our iPhone with a small piece of software. It’s all over, guys.
While Engadget goes out of it ways to try to legally distance itself from these claims, I think its pretty clear that the iPhone can now be used on almost any GSM network.
Go to the Engadget post to see the rest, including an explanatory video.
What does this mean for Apple and Cingular (The new AT&T)? I think it means that these companies may have to rethink their exclusivity agreement.
It only took hackers two months to open and unlock the iPhone. Assuming Apple and AT&T can figure out how to relock it, it’s likely that it will only take another two or three months for some mobile geeks to open the device up again.
When Apple started advertising the iPhone, it promised that the iPhone would offer the full Internet.
Well, an unlocked iPhone is a device that is certainly more open to the full Internet. It looks like the iPhone may be living up to its hype in some ways that Apple and AT&T never intended.
Datsun 280-ZX Ad with Apple’s Steve “Woz” Wozniak
Here is a classic Datsun 280-ZX Advertisement with Steve “Woz” Wozniak, inventor of the Apple computer.
A little trivia for my Geek With Laptop readers who are on the younger side of my readership: Datsun is now known as Nissan.
I love when Woz is asked why he likes the car. His answer: “It… is… AWESOME”.
Steve Jobs demos Apple Macintosh, 1984
Below you will see a demo of the first Apple Macintosh by Steve Jobs, recorded in January 1984, in front of 3,000 people. When watching, keep in mind it’s a very, very ’80s video.
Steve’s already a showman, but he hasn’t yet adopted his signature uniform of black mock turtle and jeans.
Instead, he’s wearing a navy-blue, double-breasted blazer, white shirt, and bow tie.
In this video, Steve has the biggest smile I’ve ever seen on his face and he’s obviously holding back tears as he is overwhelmed by the moment.
