Vista uses around 1gig of ram just to sit idle. I know Vista does have other advantages but I don't think it's worth it yet, maybe if they release another service pack that might do the trick. Personally I'd stay away from Vista though, and go with something more stable and less taxing on your system like XP or Server 2003.
