I was at Best Buy a few weeks ago, not for a laptop, but looked anyway. I tend to make the rounds and check out the new stuff. There was someone in every department eager to help and I was impressed by there courtesy and professionalism. I’m sure it was hard to keep the chin up knowing that 28 jobs were being sliced from that store alone. You’ll have greedy fat corporate America to thank for the lack of service in best buy in the future.

Best buy is a great place to get electronics. problems that people have can vary between stores. i went to one and couldnt get any service. i went on city over and immediately was helped. so it just depends on which one you go to. by the way my laptop works fine 6+ years

Best Buy always gives me gas, which is ok except for the fact that I do not start farting until I leave the store.

I agree with Brian, bestbuy is the best technology store ever They always prompt to help. I am surrounded with sales people from the very first time I walk through the door. I have been shopping there for years and someone always eager to help me. Great return policies. I love that store!!!!

I was just at Best Buy recently to buy a laptop. Ending up waiting forever to get help. I had help right when I walked in but I needed sometime to browse at the laptops. Finally when I had a question or find one that I liked I couldn’t get a salesperson to help me out. There were five to six of them and they were walking past me. My husband asked for help but we just had sales associates walking by. We couldn’t believe. Finally, when we got someone, we already were mad that we didn’t get our questions answered so we just picked out a lap top. The guy made it seem like we were getting a laptop. He offered to ring us up while he goes in the back to get it. When he came out, he told us they didn’t have any in stock. What a joke. We were so upset. I don’t think I’ll buy my laptop there.

I agree with everyone but Brian, I have had so many problems with Best Buy. Always a long wait to get help in the store, on the phone and in the line to check out. They claim to be knowledgable but are not. I bougt a washer and dryer there on my credit card, they tried to deliver it but it wouldn’t fit through the laundry room door so it was never delivered, but yet it took them three months and alot of agravasion to give me back my money. I’ve also had several computer issues with service and repair. I try to avoid that place as much as possible but I am stupid enough to go back on occasion because it’s the only local electronics store in town and I hate buying off the net in case there is a problem and you have to ship the item back.

I just was on hold for the comp dept with bb 4 about an hour just to double check some specs. I also sent off a bunk hard drive to be serviced only to have them charge me and tell me it was bunk. without opening it or reading my instructions that i had spoken with the manufacturer and I just needed them to check for scratches and data recovery. Geek squad is different but guilty by association and paying the price for over expanding ahead of human recourses.

I’m a little shocked by the Best Buy defender here, too… My experience: it’s hard to get the attention of the salespeople, and when you do, you get such genius advice as (I kid you not) “All laptops really have about the same amount of battery life. Oh, buy the warranty.” Never. Going. Back.

Brian, you’re either really lucky, or a first name basis shopper at best buy. Whenever I go there, I have to wait around especially in the notebook area. Then, when I finally get someone, they have to go help someone else for a quick second, which turns out to be a little more than that.
