Asus starts selling the NX90Jq

We have become so used to looking at 10, 12 and 15 inch netbooks and laptops that as soon as something sporting a large display comes out, it sort of knocks us back a little because of its sheer size when compared to a 10.1 inch netbook.

What we are talking about here is the Asus NX90Jq it was first seen at the CES event earlier on in the year, its laptop that has a display that measures a cool 18.4 inches, so this is not the sort of computer that is going to be easy to carry around. Even if the owner could find a suitable bag to carry it around in, the six cell battery means that the total weight is almost ten pounds!

Therefore, we have to assume that the NX90Jq is a desk top replacement and as such offers a 1080p display and is powered by an Intel Quad 1.6 GHz Core i7 processor.

Within the huge lid, there are two Bang and Olufsen speakers that make up the SonicMaster audio system, while either side of the keyboard there are two touchpad’s. Continuing around the body there is a decent two mega pixel webcam, two USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 ports, for external connections there are HDMI and VGA outputs.

Under the hood there is a 1 GB Nvidia GeForce GT335M graphics card, 8 GB of DDR3 RAM, two 648 GB hard drives, Blu-ray drive and it will be running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Suddenly this is laptop that has been transformed into something that actually looks like an entertainment system, but with the only tell tale sign that it is a computer is the keyboard.

This is like a giant step for Asus, the company is clearly making a move on the upper end of the market now and with a price of around $2,200, the Asus NX90Jq can take its place at the expensive end of the retailer’s displays.
