Asus Netbook MeeGo For Pre-Order
There are some great prices around these days in the netbook and laptop market, but sub $200 netbooks are rare unless we consider the latest offering from Asus, it is called unremarkably the Asus X101-EU17-WT (White) and the X101-EU17-BK (Black). Both models will be running the MeeGo operating system and are available for pre-order on the Asus Amazon site, as for the delivery of these new netbooks, it is expected that they will be ready for an early October release, but as we have seen before anything can happen.
The Asus X101-EU17-WT netbook has the now standard sized 10.1 inch LED WXGA display with 1024 x 600 of pixel resolution with a built in 0.3 mega pixel web camera, which is handy for face to face conversations while on the move.
It will be powered the standard netbook Intel Atom N435 1.33 GHz processor and graphics come via the Intel UMA graphics card. It has a memory of 1 GB of DDR3 (1 x SO-DIMM; up to 2G) and a very useful 8 GB solid state drive (SSD) storage with unlimited ASUS Web Storage too.
Networking comes via the normal 802.11 b/g/n (@ 2.4 GHz) WLAN and a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet connection. Connectivity is made by 1 x Audio port out, 1 x Audio port in, 2 x standard USB 2.0 ports and there is a handy MicroSD Card Reader too.
It has a 3 cell battery that Asus claim will run with the MeeGo operating system for up to four hours. The dimensions of this compact computer are 10.31 inch x 7.09 inch x .69 inch and it weighs in at a very transportable 2.03 lbs and that is with 3 cell battery installed.
Pre-order prices are $218 for the white version, while the black model is priced at $200
