Apple rumour of new iPhone and Verizon phone

iphone Apple rumour of new iPhone and Verizon phone

Word has been going round the web that Apple is planning to launch a brand new iPhone in June or July, which won’t come as a surprise to anyone as Apple has been bringing out a new iPhone each summer for the past few years.

However, there is also a rumour that the Cupertino Company is working on another model of phone, a CDMA phone no less, and for US mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless.

The news has come from the Wall Street Journal who has quoted as their source, people who have been “briefed on the matter”.

Although no one else seems to know more than the newspaper, I guess we can say it’s probably true. However, until Apple actually come out and say something we won’t know for sure.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the next iPhone is going to be made by the Taiwanese company Hon Hai precision. No surprises there, they are the crew that made the other iPhones.

However, if what they’re saying about Apple developing a CDMA phone is true, then it gets interesting.

CDMA is the same wireless technology that is used in the US by Verizon and Sprint and not by AT&T.

We’ve been hearing rumours about a Verizon iPhone for months now but I don’t think anyone really expected it to be a CDMA phone.

“There has been lots of incorrect speculation on CDMA iPhones for a long time. We haven’t seen one yet and only Apple knows when that might occur” said an AT&T spokesman, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Now AT&T is currently Apple’s exclusive partner in the US so I guess the prospect of a Verizon iPhone must mean that AT&T’s honeymoon period with Apple is well and truly coming to an end. It’s no secret that iPhone users haven’t been too happy with AT&T’s service.

The CDMA Apple come Verizon phone will apparently be built by Taiwan based Pegatron Technology Corp who will start manufacturing it in September.

The Wall Street Journal didn’t offer information on any specs or features of the two phones so we actually know very little and as usual, will just have to wait for the official word.

As yet, neither Apple nor Verizon have commented on the matter.
