The day we’ve all been waiting for is almost upon us, the Apple iPad will be available in the US this Saturday April 3rd from Apple stores and some Best Buy outlets.
If you’re planning to buy an iPad and you’re worried that you have no idea how to make it work its magic, don’t. Apple have also just announced that they are going to be offering a free set up service and workshops for anyone buying an iPad from the Apple store on Saturday.
“Apple’s magical new iPad will be available in all 221 US Apple® retail stores and most Best Buy stores this Saturday, April 3, beginning at 9 a.m.” said the Apple press release. It’s bound to be busy so I would get there early if I were you.
Trained staff will be on hand to set up your email, download any apps you want and customise your iPad just the way you want it and you won’t even have to hand over any cash. Cool eh?
The workshops will also take place on Saturday and will “help customers learn more about this magical new product” said Apple.
So why are Apple doing this? I suppose they’re keen to avoid any potential launch day problems, particularly as the iPad isn’t available in other markets until later.
Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, is obviously excited about the iPad’s imminent appearance.
He said the “iPpad connects users with their apps and content in a far more intimate and fun way than ever before” and adds “we can’t wait for users to get their hands and fingers on it this weekend.”
The press release goes on to state that the “iPad will be available in Wi-Fi models on April 3 in the US for a suggested retail price of $499 for 16GB, $599 for 32GB, and $699 for 64GB.
“The Wi-Fi + 3G models will be available in late April for a suggested retail price of $629 for 16GB, $729 for 32GB and $829 for 64GB. iPad will be sold in the US through the Apple Store® (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores, most Best Buy stores, select Apple Authorized Resellers and campus bookstores.
“The iBooks app for iPad including Apple’s iBookstore will be available as a free download from the App Store in the US on April 3.”
So if you haven’t got yours pre-ordered and you happen to live in the US, you can take ownership of Apple’s latest magical creation on Saturday and take advantage of the set up service too and we’ll all be interested in hearing how you got on.
