The Samsung Galaxy S 2 was succeeded by the insanely popular Galaxy S 3. Back in the day though, the Galaxy S 2 was one of the most sold smartphone around the world. This Android powered flagship smartphone from Samsung did very well in the market and by no means does it lack in the area of power, functionality and productivity. Google recently announced its platform update for Android and its called Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Samsung has now confirmed that the official Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S 2 will be available to users around the world, soon.

It was back in June when Google formally unveiled its latest Android platform update to the world. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has received amazing reviews up till now, meaning that Google has nailed it with this particular update. Surely every Android user wants a piece of this new pie, however only a handful of devices are capable of supporting Jelly Bean. Luckily, the Samsung Galaxy S 2 just so happens to be one of those devices.

The previous platform update, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, was a major update however it only accounts for around 10% of all Android devices globally. Google have released a new update at a time when the previous one has not even been fully implemented around the world. Apart from that, this update is nothing like Ice Cream Sandwich which literally revolutionized the Android experience. Having said that though, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean does bring with it a nice suite of new features as well as a host of impressive improvements.

Currently the only way to get Jelly Bean on Galaxy S 2 is by rooting it and installing unofficial ROMs. However that is not at all recommended as the ROMs come from third party sources and the process of rooting can be quite difficult for novices. Samsung has confirmed that official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S 2 will be rolled out soon. The update will be available for download over-the-air as well as being available through Samsung Kies.

Unfortunately Samsung has not given a specific time frame in which this update will be made available to millions of Galaxy S 2 owners around the world. It shouldn’t take more than a couple of months max, as the official confirmation is indication itself that Jelly Bean goodness is not that far away for Galaxy S 2 owners. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has an impressive list of features and functions that I am sure many users are just dying to try out.
