I have had my 5517 for a little over a year and so-far i have had no problems playing World of Warcraft, or COD on it, a little lag every once in awhile due to crappy internet, but for the most part, Yes, it is okay for gaming.

Ps. Look into downloading Game Booster by iobit,it helps out alot. (:

I have one bank account that when I put in the first number of my account, it automatically shows my account number and my password. The bank said it had something to do with the computer. Not sure what I did wrong on this particular account. Any suggestions? Thanks

Aspire 5517 is my first and last Acer product. Run into so much trouble with this notebook and have sent it in for repair 3 times with the same persistent boot up problem that Acer can only solve for a few weeks before it failed to boot up again. Just after the 1 year warranty, there is a display problem that will cost me $200 dollar to fix. But that left me with parts to sell, interested party can email me, I don’t think you’ll want the motherboard, but the parts such as AMD CPU, keyboard, monitor etc are still good, all just over 1 year new, with about a few weeks time in transit to and from repair centers.

How do I use the Memory card slot? I can not get my card in the slot like it should be. Stuggling with this since I got this pc over 6mnths ago….Operator error perhaps.

I have the Acer Aspire 5517 with web-cam, and recently something has happened.
One of My USB ports has had the black connector inside broken off and has fallen out, now I understand that, that would be a legitimate reason for it to stop working, but why did My second USB port stop working? And would someone be kind enough to send Me pictures or information on how to turn the non broken one back on.

Can I update my laptop’s CPU Speed to 2.0??
I want to play the Sims 3 — not very good with computers and the guy at the store told me this model would play all games, but I installed the Sims 3 and checked on the “Can You Run It” website and figured out that my CPU Speed is too slow… What can I do? It’s a new laptop don’t want to have to buy a new one.

Well let me inform you that this 5517 is available in many diffrent sub models….i have got 5517-5136

Mine includes a tf-20 64 bit 1.6 Ghz processor, 160 GB HDD and windows 7….it works perfectly except with only one prob…last time when i restored my windows the battery failed to work properly…it has a cross sign on it everytime sayiong consider replacing your battery….the battery runs for 10-15 mins and then seddenly without any warning it shutss off….before the windows restore the battery was working properly…i have heard that it has got the same battery issue with windows 7….can anybody help me fix this problem….

i have a quick question. I have purchased the aspire 5517 about 2 years ago. i love it, never have problems, plays all my games and videos fine. i dont have mice or cam(dont even care to have them) my only thing is, i’m trying to connect to my tv. now i have an older tv that has rca and s video, no vga. i just bought a vga to s-video/ rca cable and am not able to conect to the tv
i fn f5 combo to connect to a projector, nothing happens ive talked to the acer people(i could barely understand) and they sent me to a link that just tells me about vga to vga, even after i told him about my cable situation.does anybody have any idea on how i can connect my tv to my laptop? im tired of watching netflix on this small moniter and would love to watch on my 52′ tv. Any help would be greatly appreciated. tyvm in advance : ). ps my o/s is win 7, if that is needed
