A Real Brick Wall of a Spam Stopper

When it comes to spam, a lot of spam blockers are more like a polite maid who simply asks the spam to wipe its feet before entering the house. You don’t want that, you want a door bouncer at an exclusive nightclub. You need a big bald guy who’s rude to the patrons standing in a line wrapping around the block, criticizes their clothes, and doesn’t let them in if they’re not on “the list”.

In other words, you want a real brick wall of a spam stopper, something that will not only stop spam from coming into your inbox, but will also be rude to the spam and maybe rough it up a little if it gives your spam blocker any lip.

So below we’ve listed a few spam blockers based on two different things. First, every one of these spam blockers works. It keeps at least 98% of all spam out of your inbox. Second, nobody will be able to send you any spam without paying the price for it, by having their accounts reported, having spam sent right back to them, or having their ip banned.

So as spam blockers go, these are the big, bald guys holding clipboards and wearing black t-shirts and gold chains.

Barracuda

It’s called Barracuda for a reason. It eats spam right up like a barracuda shark eats fish. You know that the shark has not evolved for millions of years? It’s at the top of the food chain, has no natural enemies, and it just swims around eating all day, sometimes sinking boats and having to get blown up with an oxygen tank, but mostly just swimming and eating. That’s where Barracuda’s namesake comes from, and it certainly lives up to it (minus the getting blown up with an oxygen tank part).

Barracuda is simply at the top of the food chain. It kills nearly 100% of all spam.

Spam Bully

Spam Bully is kind of a hilarious idea for a spam blocker. It doesn’t just block the spam, it tracks the sender down and sends the spam back to him or her, blocks the source, and reports them. In other words, it really does bully the spammers.

eXpurgate

eXpurgate is one of the most powerful free spam filters out there. It definitely gets the job done, although, if you have a lot of email, it can get just a tad heavy on memory usage. Just be careful where you share your email address, though, and you should be able to cut back on the amount of spam eXpurgate has to deal with in the first place.
