There’s a whole lot of talk about Toshiba these days, with many users ready to crown them, more or less, pretty much the number one leaders in laptop computers these days.
Rather than simply buying a Toshiba simply because, well, it’s what’s hot right now, it’s always a better idea to actually do the research and figure out for yourself whether or not a Toshiba will cover what you actually need out of a laptop. While consumers do tend to flock towards the better products, that’s not always the case.
So with that in mind, below, we’re going to look at a couple of the more popular Toshiba laptops and try to give a good idea of whether or not they’ll fit into what you want out of a laptop.
Now, to be clear, we’ll say right here that we’re definitely not getting any sponsorship money from Toshiba or anything like that, so we’re not giving you any sort of biased opinion.
Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q725
Now, let’s make no mistake, the Toshiba Qosmio is a great, great laptop. There is simply no doubt about that. This is Toshiba’s attempt to compete with companies like Alienware in the gaming laptop market. Reviews are generally positive and the specs on this thing are incredible, with four gigs of DDR memory.
It is top of the line, it can compete with Alienware, but the specs are about the same as you could expect from something in Alienware’s Area 51 lineup, and… at around twice the cost. Still, it is a great rig if you can wait for the price to go down a little.
Portege R600
The Portege series is really Toshiba’s flagship lineup. The R600 is being pushed as a super light, ultra portable notebook. It comes packed with windows and all sorts of great apps, it has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and a couple gigs of RAM, but… again, the price really does it in.
Now… nobody can deny that Toshiba is putting out some of the best laptops available right now, but a lot of their flagship units run along the two to three thousand dollar range.
Now, perhaps the very best thing you can do is simply wait for these prices to go down. Toshiba is steadily putting out new models, so the two listed above are sure to go down in price before too much more time passes.
