Girl In Human Sling Shot
Girl goes flying in giant human sling shot. Looks like fun but I’m not so sure I would be too eager to try it myself.
WordPress Limited Edition Pillow
I’m always looking for new and interesting ideas for taking something, like a t-shirt for example, and turning it into a work of art or a fun thing to have around my office.
Thanks to Matt Mullenweg, the man behind WordPress I was able to get another Limited Edition WordPress shirt to use for a project.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the WordPress Limited Edition… pillow:

Of course I didn’t want to do this with my one and only WordCamp 2006 WordPress shirt because I actually wear it around town… gotta support and promote WordPress, but because there was an overstock of t-shirts from WordCamp and other events, they put them up for sale on December 14, 2006 and I purchased another one just for this project.
It’s nothing too tricky really. I just went to my local Wal-Mart and purchased a pillow insert, then cut the shirt to size for the pillow, sewed it all together, including adding a hidden zipper so the shirt can be removed for washing and Tah-Da! Instant WordPress pillow for my office when I need to take a nap from a full day of blogging.
I do have to admit, I didn’t do the sewing, I’m good but not that good. I have my lady to thank for being creative and putting my idea together.
Who knows, maybe Matt and the WordPress crew will be inspired to create actual stuff like this for WordPress users to purchase?
Chinese Test Anti-Satellite Weapon
United States intelligence agencies believe China performed a successful anti-satellite weapons test at more than 500 mile altitude January 11, 2007 destroying an aging Chinese weather satellite target with a kinetic kill vehicle launched on board a ballistic missile.
The Central Intelligence Agency, the National Security Agency, the Defense Intelligence Agency, NASA and other government organizations have a full court press underway to obtain data on the alleged test, Aviation Week & Space Technology reports on its web site Aviationnow.com.
If the test is verified it will signify a major new Chinese military capability.
Terrorists Take Over Google Earth
Terrorists in Basra, Iraq, have turned Google Earth into a tool for targeting attacks, according to The Daily Telegraph, a U.K. newspaper.
Citing unnamed British Army intelligence sources, the Telegraph said that documents recovered from the homes of insurgents included print-outs of Google Earth images with notations detailing the longitude and latitude of a British military camp.
The article quotes the unidentified intelligence officer as saying:
We believe they use Google Earth to identify the most vulnerable areas such as tents.
It also notes that one solider has been killed and several wounded in mortar attacks at the camp in question.
The implication is that Google Earth bears some measure of responsibility is dubious considering the mapping software has its limitations.
Hacking The Body Week #4
It’s that time again, my weekly update on my weight loss progress.
I’ve stuck to drinking a lot of water daily and only having one diet soda per day.
As of this post, I haven’t had a soda yet, so I might go a day without one. That would be some progress.
I’ve also noticed my pants are starting to become loose and I’ve needed to move up one notch in my belt buckle. Yay, signs of more weight loss.
Ok, now for the specific details of my morning weigh in… I weighed in this morning at 227.6 which is a 1.8 pound weight loss.
So far in 4 weeks I’ve lost a total of 4.4 pounds.
This makes me very excited. I love seeing progress and I’m well on my way to reaching my goal of 200 pounds.
Feel free to keep track of my progress on my Hacking The Body Project page.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support and words of encouragement.
Cingular Is Now The New AT&T
AT&T Inc. has completed its acquisition of BellSouth Corporaton, creating a flagship American communications company committed to driving convergence, continued innovation and competition in the communications and entertainment marketplace.

The merger consolidates ownership and management of Cingular Wireless, the nation’s No. 1 provider of wireless voice and data services, and YELLOWPAGES.COM, a leading Internet Yellow Pages and local search site.
As a result, the new AT&T will be better able to deliver innovative integrated services, streamlined customer care and greater convenience in buying communications and entertainment services, as the combined company integrates its wireless and wireline IP networks.
According to Reuters.com:
…in its first stage, Cingular will share its orange logo of a bouncing jack with the AT&T globe logo on everything from television ads to sales uniforms and monthly bills.
Wendy Clark vice president of advertising at AT&T, said in an interview:
AT&T’s name and logo will eventually replace Cingular in a process expected to take several months, with the exact timing determined as more customer feedback comes in.
I’m not to sure how I feel about this.
From what I recall, wasn’t AT&T broken apart into many peaces years ago for being a monopoly? and now with this $86 billion purchase of BellSouth Corporation last month it would seem they’re going to become one giant powerful phone company again.
